Testimonials

We were completely overwhelmed by the college application process. With so many schools out there, it felt impossible to know which ones would truly be a good fit for our son. Melissa Palmer was exactly what we needed.

She took the time to really get to know our son—his priorities, his interests, and the type of college experience he wanted. Her deep knowledge of colleges, built over more than 30 years of visiting campuses, forming relationships with admissions staff, and maintaining connections with students she has advised, was invaluable. Helping our son craft a thoughtful and realistic application list was worth the investment on its own.

But where we were truly blown away was her guidance on his essays. Melissa is an exceptional writer, and she helped him develop his ideas into essays that authentically showed the colleges who he is. From start to finish, Melissa supported him with the care and dedication of someone advising her own child. She was patient and reassuring with our son and with us parents.

In the end, her commitment paid off. Our son was accepted to 75% of the schools he applied to, and he is now flourishing at the college he chose.

We give Melissa Palmer our highest recommendation. If you are lucky enough to have the chance to work with her, take it—your future self will thank you.

I am proud and honored to share my experience working with Melissa Palmer, who provided holistic, individualized college counseling for both of my sons. Each child came to her with a completely different profile, set of challenges, and way of moving through the world—and Melissa met them exactly where they were.

My older son has every "dys" in the book: dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and more. Because of the complexity of his neurodiversity, we weren't sure whether college was even a realistic option. Thanks to Melissa's expertise, steady guidance, and profound respect for who he is, he not only earned multiple acceptances, he emerged from the process seeing himself as an intelligent, capable, and confident college freshman.

Her gentle suggestions, positive reframing, and meticulous organizational support made the application journey remarkably stress-free. In fact, she handled the entire process so thoroughly that I was only called in for proofreading moments before he hit "submit." He ultimately graduated college with pride, joy, and a renewed belief in his abilities—due in no small part to Melissa's wisdom and unwavering encouragement.

My younger son needed a very different approach—less gentle nudging and more direct accountability. Melissa recognized this immediately. She created a clear timeline, weekly tasks, and a structure that matched his temperament and motivations. With her guidance, he completed his applications early, was admitted to his first-choice college, and we were spared months of lingering application anxiety. He is now a thriving college senior, majoring in a field he loves and already excited about the career ahead of him.

Melissa set both of my sons up for genuine success. She tailored her work to their distinct personalities and needs, and both boys credit her with helping them find the "perfect school."

I recommend Melissa wholeheartedly and without reservation.

Melissa has been a life-changer for our family. We have one daughter who is a freshman at Wesleyan, and a son who is a sophomore at Colgate. Both kids wanted to attend college on the East Coast, but they had no idea where to focus their energy in the college search. As parents, we knew there were hundreds of schools but we weren't sure how to focus their search.

Each child met with Melissa and she really listened to them. She heard their stories, and understood so much about their character and where they might fit in at college. She helped them take a long list of possibilities down to a list of schools that met their criteria and seemed like possibilities. She helped them to understand that there is a certain amount of chance involved in even the most well-considered application, which helped them to put the college process into perspective.

Once their list was developed, Melissa helped to refine their essays as well as their lists of extracurricular activities. I was just thinking the other day that I am so grateful for Melissa because she helped my kids end up in colleges that really match their social and academic interests. They are both so happy at college, and Melissa was a huge part of their success.
